·       Guide for the writing process

Hello, I’m Julie.

I have a graduate degree in English, focusing on poetry, and teach reflective writing. More than what that may mean to anyone, I’m incredibly passionate about writing because I see its potential for transformation of the creative and curious self. It can change who we are personally and collectively—and help to rewire the brain in a beneficial way over time.

I’ve worked at a dietary supplement company for nearly 15 years. My job has allowed me to research how micronutrients like magnesium and botanicals like elderberry benefit the body, based on scientific research. This intense looking has provided me with an understanding of the larger picture of how the body can function optimally and how their incorporation may support a process like writing. Please note that I am not a medical professional and am not trying to dispense medical advice. You can make up your own mind about what may benefit you.

I’ve also been a certified meditation instructor since 2021. In my experience, taking a moment to focus on the breath and try and let everything else go helps dissolve the conflict of dualism, or this societal concept that mind and body are separate. Breath allows us an access point into what we already know.

These experiences have all informed and shaped how I show up to my own writing practice and have informed the offerings you will find here.

More than anything, I want to show you how much fun writing can be. How liberating and joyful, even sometimes through tears shed. It can become an entrance back into play and the curious mind we naturally are wired for and a natural gateway to a more creative and reflective life.
